In the musical Bartholdi's Lady©
we open with Fredric Auguste Bartholdi, the sculptor of the Statue of
Liberty, writing his memoir's shortly after its dedication. He takes us
back to the very beginning with the conception of an idea....a large
statue that would unite two great nations, France and the United States,
and represent their common goal of democracy and liberty for all.
We go through Bartholdi's experiences with him
as he recounts the events that lead up to the completion of his dream,
the Statue of Liberty. We meet the important people in his life, his
wife, his mother and the all-important Edouard de Laboulaye. We'll
watch as he meets with obstacles that confront such a huge undertaking,
and we share his triumph when the greatest monument in the world is
finally completed.
